The Archies' contract with Discos Fuentes comes to an end in

January of 2033. They'll claim ownership of the WHOLE WORLD

SHAKIN' album and the master will reside in their archives.

Upon completion, so will these overdubs, four of which

are unfinished Archie Records tracks from the year 2007.

Others hail from archival sessions tracked in Hawaii in 2029.

The Archies will license them to Fuentes for inclusion on

a belated swansong LP that will only be marketed in Australia.

These overdub dates reunite the band with long-ago substitute

member Andy Yoshida. "A-Yo" is now one-half of an up-and-

coming production team "down under". He'll have requested

a chance to produce The Archies before they disband; however,

he and his partner are disappointed to discover that the group

isn't much interested in cutting fresh material! Still, they're

grateful for the privilege of helming their last official record

date. Kevin Keller takes the lead on the first two unfinished titles.

Toni Topaz (now an official member of the band) holds forth

on the next two.

IN THE FALL OF 2125, DISCOS FUENTES WILL MARKET

ALL OF ITS ARCHIES MASTERS IN A VINYL BOX SET.

Archie commissions Rod Mack, the last A & R Director

of Archie Records, to remix the forthcoming Fuentes LP.

Rod chooses Paris Fleming, who'll have returned to work in

Brazil as his remix engineer on Veronica's recommendation.

Less than half of the Melbourne session's material

will make the final cut! In fact, only five songs are salvaged

from the track list provided to Rod and Paris by Ralfi Chingas.

For the remainder of the new album, Rod pulls from

Fuentes sessions dating back to 2031 as well as the

archival Splendid Media sessions. His Country-flavored

remixes render these selections all but unrecognizable; some

won't be heard in their original versions until they're

released on 40 ROCK, a 22nd Century archival box set.

By now, word has spread that the band's next album

will definitely be their last; fans all over the world are

saddened by the news! Veronica's suggestion that the

Australian compilation be titled SOMEBODY'S GONNA

CRY! seems appropriate. Sometime in late 2033,

"Just My Style" will be swapped out for a new track

recorded by Roni and Archie (see entry below).

Discos Fuentes executives claim they don't hear a hit on the revamped compilation; they request a singles session. Surprisingly, Arch and Roni grant this request but they are the only group members present at this two-day Mumbai date. A choice pair of sides are committed to tape: Veronica tracks a searing version of "Baby, It's You" - one of the gutsiest vocal performances she'll ever give - and Arch growls through "Let Me Bring You Up", a long-forgotten song left over from the Kirshner Records era. Ralfi Chingas is delighted with these new masters but his bosses will once again nitpick material! They leave the Bacharach tune to languish on the forthcoming LP and hold back the latter track until 2035 - and then market it only as an Australian flipside! SOMEBODY'S GONNA CRY will be released with no single to herald it, but down-under deejays will pounce on "Yours Until Tomorrow" and "Oh, How Happy!" from the track list. These selections go on to top the Australian charts back-to-back, much to the surprise of Ralfi's tone-deaf supervisors! For too many years now, he'll have suffered Fuentes label executives' incompetence and interference; his frustration finally reaches the boiling point. After this near-fiasco, he'll quit the label to go freelance.

The Archies' final TV appearances will be two hour-long

specials for PBS and MTV, respectively. The former is taped

live in Austin, Texas in December of 2032, and the latter is pre-

recorded in May of 2033 at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church

in Staten Island, New York. Both live recordings will be

remixed at these June sessions (for song titles from the Austin

concert, reference the entry for December 2032.) A pair of

DVD releases are scheduled but cancelled in favor of the Adiós Amigos documentary (see below). After the runaway success of that film, interest in The Archies wanes for a few years; but in 2037, a hit biopic heats up the market for new product. A video

download for "Archie Unplugged" finally appears in 2038.

Discos Fuentes owns the rights to audio from The Archies'

2032 Farewell World Tour, but they can't interfere with

it in any way! The terms of its release were set in stone

prior to the expiration of the group's contract. The triple LP

will be recorded by "Spanish" Eddie Roxchild. Under

the supervision of movie director Raj Patel, it will

be remixed by Eddie's husband Ralfi Chingas (The

Archies' longtime producer). Inexplicably, those remix

sessions won't be documented but Ralfi's sound mix will

be heard in Patel's smash-hit film documentary

of the tour. At Archie and Veronica's request,

Eddie compiles a tape of what he feels are the

band's best live performances. His compilation

tape provides source material for this second round

of remixes. While Juggy, Betty and Veronica all cut

successful vocal overdubs at these sessions,

Archie's performance of "The Grass Will Sing

For You" won't appear on the live album;

after several frustrating attempts, he gives up

on trying to improve the show-stopping ballad

and decides to omit it. The rest of the band

strongly objects, but Arch has the final say!

This session and the previous one produce sound mixes

that will appear on the vinyl "soundtrack" album for

¡Adiós Amigos! Ralfi Chingas' movie mixes won't be

released until the year 2121, when Discos Fuentes

finally markets the real soundtrack; it will be

titled SAY GOODBYE TO RIVERDALE. That ultra-long-

playing album will include first-time remixes of six

previously unissued live recordings: "I'm Your Vehicle,"

"Speedy González," "Suspicious Minds," "Sayonara,

Baby," "Land Of Milk And Honey" and "Archie's

Dance Medley." Simultaneous to this record date,

The Archies will hold their final business meetings.

The group will officially disband in Bora Bora

on July 24, 2033.

In 2031, The Archies will sign a contract with the producers of Philadelphia Freedom, a forthcoming indie film. Production will be delayed for months, during which time the group disbands. However, contracts must be honored or else! The band members travel separately to Honolulu to cut their tracks; only Archie + Veronica record together. Kristen Gorrie and SonSeri Kennedy helped the group cut archival material in 2029, at which time Kristin shared with Archie her desire to produce film soundtracks "I idolize Bree Spellman," she told him, "and I want to follow in her footsteps." He decides to give her the chance! Selected by Arch, Roni and SonSeri, the songs complement the movie by evoking vintage Philadelphia Soul; they include numbers that The Archies have only performed live prior to these sessions. Australian icon Deb Delman, an old friend of the band is in Honolulu on business; on "Climb Ev'ry Mountain", she joins Sonseri and the Aloha Voices on back-up harmony. Kristin runs the dates like the pro she is, thrilled at helming her very first commercial production! As for Archie, he's ecstatic at having cut another great Soul album! Unfortunately, film producer Marian Walsh doesn't share their joy. Listening to the playback, she complains that the music "has no balls! I'm not feeling these soft, slow songs." A vicious circle of conflicts over tempo will have dogged The Archies all through the 2030s! Legal complications arise from this one, resulting in a settlement that requires the group to reimagine and recut the soundtrack - ironically, under Bree Spellman's supervision! Kristin Gorrie is crushed but not discouraged; she'll persevere along her new and ultimately successful career path. The twelve gorgeous tracks that she produced will be buried among the estate holdings of the Walsh family.
