The 22nd Century
The very first addition to the Archie catalog in the 22nd century will be a rare tribute album project. The artist is Dusty Springfield, whose Sixties hits are interpreted by a group called Miss Beehive! Most song selections on the MISS BEEHIVE SESSIONS LP were first heard in 1992, on two extended-play discs sold by Ansonia Records. The recordings, commissioned by the producers of a stage musical about Dusty, were distributed in New England as a promotional tie-in. Never intended to be an album and never meant to be known as an Archies release, the discs' popularity forced Ansonia to reconsider its marketing strategy; subsequent re-packaging presented the tracks in album form. The "has-been" Archies cut them under a pseudonym! Betty and Veronica sang all the lead vocals (except for "Mockingbird," a duet by Betty and Kevin Keller). Archie and Veronica acquired the Miss Beehive master tapes in 2005 but were unsure about their commercial appeal. Incredibly, they sat on these superb sides for three decades! They finally surfaced in 2031, part of a compilation series released to satisfy a court settlement with the Republic label. The 2100 reissue will become a coveted collectors item, but not nearly as coveted as copies of the original Miss Beehive extended-play and compact discs.

"Archie On Broadway" is a 2033 recording while "Angelique" was tracked in the year 2005. The "Flamenco Rock Medley" was recorded at the same 2008 tracking session as the mega-hit single "Sugar, Sugar en Español". It features Spanish versions of the songs "Timothy" and "Venus."

Just before THE COMPLETE FUENTES ALBUMS begins climbing the charts, The Walt Disney Company buys out Vox Sound + Image. This happens in the Winter of 2124-25.

"Billy Sunshine" was intended as a 2005 Archies Fan Club Records release; long believed lost, it's retrieved from the music archives of producer Rod Mack. These vinyl pressings of hit songs released by The Archies in the mid-2130s will be so criminally rare, the only known copies are in the possession of Elijah Baumgartner Andrews. His Tiger's Milk indie label is distributed by The Walt Disney Company, which explains why these promo singles will carry the Disneyland label. This double A-side will be The Archies' final Top Ten hit. In 2012, Bill Medley of The Righteous Brothers will call Jughead's attention to "Who Am I?" Medley wrote this obscure power ballad in 1966; it was recorded by several artists but never successfully. Chuck Clayton will write a new vocal arrangement for the song in 2028. Tracking happens in 2032, but the single will be held back for over a century! The group's excellent cover of the Joni Mitchell classic "I'm A Radio" is the AI-generated reconstruction of a lost master recorded in Jerusalem in 2014. Were she still alive, Toni Topaz would be astounded to hear herself sing lead vocals; she was not present at the tracking session! Very few releases of this type will pass muster with Elijah Baumgarter Andrews, keeper of the Archies legacy.

Alongside ISHTAR, CAN'T STOP THE MUSIC and the 1976 remake of KING KONG, the 1989 movie BUTT NAKED BEACH PARTY went down as one the biggest cinematic bombs of the 20th century! An early promotional vehicle for The Archies, it's not something the group members ever liked talking much about. BUTT NAKED was a movie musical and the soundtrack album scored a modest success, but none of its songs were ever performed at an Archies concert. That made the 2034 compilation of alternate takes and demos marketed by Republic USA a must-have for collectors! After all, every track is a Phil Spector Production (in name if not in fact), the Jeff Barry-penned songs are fabulous, and Spector diva Darlene Love sings lead on several of the demos; she was the film's vocal arranger. That said, the aforementioned compilation will pretty much fly under fans' radar: Sales will be flat! Happily, when Discos Fuentes locates the missing soundtrack album master and reissues it in the year 2050, they'll be rewarded with a Catalog Album chart-topper.
