The illustrations posted here are of photos not yet taken! They depict scenes from ten years in the future. However, these photos won't surface until a century from now! That's when the soundtrack of a very important (and very imaginary) movie will be released. The 2121 film Say Goodbye To Riverdale is the re-release of a 2034 documentary called Adiós Amigos. It documents The Archies' farewell concert tour. The belatedly-released soundtrack recordings, will be received with the same wild enthusiasm that greeted music from the 2000 film O Brother, Where Are Art Thou? The public will again be enthralled by rhythms, harmonies, melodies and lyrical content the likes of which won't have been heard for decades. In this way, the Great American Rock 'n' Roll Song Book will re-emerge in the 22nd century, and superior 20th century songcraft will prove its durability.

The soundtrack of Say Goodbye To Riverdale is just one Archies release that will scale 22nd century Pop charts. Their rich music catalog will produce a cornucopia of hidden treasures, yielding a string of previously-unreleased sides stretching across many decades! The greatest of these treasures will be an album containing over 40 songs, with all but one recorded in early 2029 during secret recording sessions in Hawaii. Further tracking will take place in Melbourne, Australia in May of 2033.

ARCHIES ALBUM 20 ROCK

Hard to believe, but even though all of these songs hail from the catalog of a single artist, they will not originally be conceived as an album. Archie and Veronica Lodge-Andrews will consider them "archival" recordings, meant to be scattered piecemeal over numerous hits compilations. A handful of the sides will surface on an Australian collection called SOMEBODY'S GONNA CRY; but the rest are destined to make their début in the form of a long-player spanning four vinyl records. Released in the Spring of 2164, this belated Archies album will be titled 40 ROCK.

Projects that involve seven producers, seven arrangers, four studios, two continents and band members working separately from each other is not a recipe for a cohesive Rock record! All the same, The Archies and their associates will beat the odds: Twenty-second century music critics will rave over this album. They'll proclaim 40 ROCK an essential link to the early Rock 'n' Roll era, and it will precipitate the latest in several future revivals of that genre. Del Shannon, a long-forgotten singer/songwriter of the early 1960s, will be rediscovered and revered alongside such icons as Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Tina Turner. It's from his vintage music catalog that the contents of 40 ROCK are culled!

While the full four-record set will log decent sales figures, it won't be as successful as a two-record budget version that The Walt Disney Company will market in 2165. 20 ROCK will top the charts, win a triple-Platinum award and also bag a Grammy for Vintage Album of The Year! Hit songs from the LP will include "And The Music Plays On", "Break Up", "She", "Cheap Love", "Sister Isabelle", "Broken Promises", "The Big Hurt" and "Runaway".

This blogpost features Pop Art images of iconic cartoon characters controlled by Archie Comics. Other characters depicted were created especially for Pop Culture Cantina. The imaginary album 40 ROCK was compiled by a homeless Rock 'n' Roll fan between March and August of 2023. It is dedicated to the memory of DEL SHANNON (1934 - 1990).
